mb was like the default model for ek to test the size of the clothes she bought for CL
LOL
maybe the "shoo shoo" thingy started here?
hahaha
somewhere along the way, we split up into small(er) groups to shop...
at the end of the day we had to regroup and share each other's buy right?
haha

presentation time!

sunset view from our room

Day 2 - 9 September 2010
preparing for the start of day 2!
sightseeing!!
the floating market tour!

the coconut sugar farm was part of the floating market tour...

the making of the coconut sugar..
the coconut sugar really did tasted qt good
pity i don't have much use for it....so didn't buy..

the uncle selling spices was so happy coz we bought 23 +1 free packets of spices from him...
maybe he did earn a handsome profit from us?
maybe the locals get to buy the spice from him for 10bht while we thought tt 100 bht was a pretty good deal..LOL
i gave all of mine to my aunties...
hoping the cooked rendition of those spices will end up in my stomach one of these days..
keke

the usual tourist souvenirs (which we didn't buy)
it was cheap though..but pretty useless and will only collect dust..
at least the pictures on these plates were taken with our knowledge...
the one at the temple was freaky..we didn't even know our pictures were being taken n printed on badges..
wonder what they do with all these souvenirs that we refuse to buy from them...
after the floating market, we asked the driver to bring us to a place with authentic thai food...
n he was right!
the food and price was GREAT!
but we don't know where is that place...in the middle of nowhere..
definitely not in bkk itself..
i'm hungry looking at this pix
itinerary number 2 - the golden buddha temple

in the same temple was the yaowarat museum (about the history of bkk's chinatown) and the golden buddha musuem...
not so interested in the history of chinatown..coz basically the story of the chinese in the south east asian countries are similar...life was hard in china so they sailed across the sea in hopes of a better life...yada yada..
the difference is that the chinese in thailand eventually also took up thai names as part of their thai identity...
the golden buddha musuem was more interesting...got a interactive display of how they discovered the buddha to be made of pure gold..kept us engaged for a while..heh
we spent qt a while at the golden buddha temple, so we decided to skip the rest of the tour (which consisted of more temples) to continue with our shopping!
at chinatown!!
we spent a looong while inside the accessory shop...
the array of (cheap) accessories sold inside kept us very very occupied..
in the meantime, poor mb was waiting outside for us...
ermz we didn't realise the shops close really early in bkk...
so by the time we reached the street, the shops were all closing/closed..
but at least we managed to whack 1 shop selling stickers...many many many of them..
after sticker shopping, the sky was turning (had turned?) dark...
those of us in the loop about the BIG SURPRISE started getting worried about the time...
we made our way quickly (we tried) to nam sing for our must-have fix of sharks fin and bird's nest..
