last wed met up with the seniors for a gathering
coz pearlyn's gg overseas to study
to study art therapy leh

anw for cny..coz i had excess ingredients..i decided to experiment...
i was wondering hw will it taste if i mix my pineapple tart pastry wif cornflakes

the first is the beehive which is really nice...so fresh also..

last few yrs when i ate it i told maureen tt i preferred it when they put magarine in it..

but unfortunately the magarine tt they use is nt in production anymore..

this yr..i was watching shows on imoovee while waiting for 12 midnight to go n pray...

den after tt i hiao go n do mask n wad not...haha

yest went over to my ah gong's hse...

the kids were pretty excited..

ok la but kids being kids r excited as long as gather together

CNY juz doesn't feel right without my ah ma ard leh...

last time when my ah ma was still ard...

she would prepare a spread or feast for all o us...

the table would be filled with food lor..

there would be the curry chicken

(den u'll see my cuz n i fishing ard for the chicken wings..somehow the chicken wings in the curry chicken seems endless..haha)

(wah! my ah ma'a one was the best k! it's bound to make u break out in sweat after 1 sip o the gravy...shiok ar! i've nv tasted anything better after she passed away..)

(this is also another v shiok dish...can also make u break out in sweat...n got sooo many mushrooms in the soup..as tho it's endless...)

ok i only rmbr these 3 dishes...got more ba..haha

in comparison...

nowadays...

none o my aunties haf bothered to learn the culinary skills of my ah ma which is such a pity..

but now when they miss her cooking they'll try to cook it

but it totally pales in comparison...

me: papa don't u think tt this yr's pineapple tarts dun taste as nice as last time..i dunno wad's wrong leh..

papa: *with mouth full of pineapple tarts* not enuff butter...muz put more butter den will be more xiang1...

*smacks head* why din i think of tt? tt statement went to the heart of the problem
i was thinking n thinking wad the problem was but juz couldn't figure it out...

but too bad..my dad ate the pineapple tarts after i baked finish everything..so got no more ingredients to remake..hahaha

was reading cruz dingzhiyong's (fyi the 933 DJ) blog..
which i found qt amusing n entertaining...
which weakened my resolve to go bathe n slp early today
which resulted in this late nite post while waiting for my hair to dry...
fortunately my hair is shorter n more layered now
so hopefully it'll dry fast
so tt by the end of this post i can go slp

anw today had a pineapple tarts baking session
which originally was supposed to have qt a healthy turnout
but the numbers slowly dwindled to juz me n ek
honestly speaking i was qt disappointed
i mean i do appreciate it tt some told me early when they found out tt they had work committments today
which was ok wif me
if i had known earlier tt it would be juz me n ek
i would haf asked if we could haf the baking session on sunday instead
so tt i wouldn't have missed a once-in-five-years 25/03 class gathering
n upon hearing of the amt of ingredients tt i bought for the baking session, ek wouldn't have to postpone her gathering wif her frens whom she havent seen in ages which resulted in her feeling bad which led her to suggest tt she treat her frens to a meal..granted we were still at cwp's foodcourt at 2pm deciding wad to eat for lunch so there was no way she could haf made it for the gathering which was supposed to be at 6pm at bugis...which also made me feel qt bad
n i gt a earful frm my mum for buying so much ingredients with no use for them
she was horrified at the thot of extra useless stuff cluttering up her kitchen cabinet tt she was desperately thinking of ways to dispose of the extra ingredients short of throwing them away...
1. give them all to ek to bake at home (i can juz imagine ek's horrified expression..haha)
2. call my auntie to ask whether she wan or nt n unfortunately my auntie alr bought all the ingredients alr..-_-"
act i cant decide which one i'm more pissed with
the fact tt i missed the class gathering (tt's y i asked who's free on 18th)
or tt i lugged all those ingredients back home which resulted in me having a pain in my neck the next day..okok i supposed i could haf waited 1st or asked u all to help me..but i was v kiasu coz i din really fancy a reenactment of wad happened last yr...desperately looking for ingredients at the last moment...
i was lugging
2 X 1 kg of flour
6 X 250g of butter
2 packs of pineapple paste which r not light
1 pack of caster sugar
1 pack of custard powder in my rickety heels along the uneven pavements of tpy central

therefore as a result of today's experience
i told my mum to put on hold any buying of ingredients for the steamboat
i'll juz go buy on tt day itself
pls let me noe who's free to do the marketing (as in juz meet earlier to go ntuc to buy stuff)
n also let me noe wad u gers wan for the steamboat
coz some stuff shud be gotten frm the market...
so gers u have until the night of 30th to tell me if u cannot make it
n if the turnout is too pathetic i think steamboat will be off
n the rest of us can juz go somewhere else for a nice n cosy dinner instead of having a very leng qing steamboat

i wrote it after discovering tt the baking session was gg to haf a dismal turnout
so wasn't exactly in a pleasant mood ya...

OMG!! after buying my loan for 4 months, i haven't even pay off the disbursements yet
n how come the disbursement so EXPENSIVE!!!!
even my co charge disbursement also dun cost so much lor!!!!
walao now we noe y our local banks r making money....
they r conservative when they come to investments (which is good in this economic climate)
n they charge pple so much!!! juz for disbursements!!
disbursements r like misc expenses tt they incur in the processing of ur loan
as tho they charge me interest not enuff...

ok..these few weeks is the festive season..so ya qt a bit o activities...was waiting for the pix and some free time b4 blogging...

20 & 21st December

Let's Take a Walk

signed up for this let's take a walke thingy wif the gers..

it's organised by raleigh society with minds being one of the beneficiaries...

n our grp name was....

WALKHOLICS ANONYMOUS!

ok la no special meaning to it..

n we r definitely no walkaholics we would prefer to haf transport if we can

wahahahaha

haha anw we started out at minds

and the first part of the route we went to mount faber park n the sounthern ridges...there was really a long long long flight of steps leading to mount faber park..

the grass at the hortpark is good for jumping pix like this coz it's nice n even not like the one at esplanade there..so uneven..ok la..it helped tt we were wearing track shoes..so easy to jump..

haha

being the camwhores tt we were we couldnt stop stop taking pix coz the scenery was so good...

which led us to lag behind the rest of the guys..oops..

i think we kinda pulled them back..

coz they had to wait for us..

haha

i think we had at least 100+ pix frm the 1st 10km of the walk..haha

at one of the walks.. was it the forest walk? i'm nt sure..hehe the steps there were act qt scary coz u can see downwards into the bushes n tress n plants below...

wrong! this stadium is at the NUS bukit timah campus..means we walk frm kent ridge park to bkt timah

last grp pix b4 i went home.. erz i walked till the 40km checkpoint..den my soles and blisters (soles mainly) were hurting so much tt i decided to give up...

why is the last checkpoint marked wif marker? coz they ran out of stickers..diaoz..did they think a lot of pple were gg to drop out after 30km?

haha map of our route...1st 50km route.. ok we din exactly follow the exact route given to us..but...at least we din resort to taking public transport..haha

the last 50km of the route...i'm so proud of the rest of them who perservered on...this wasn't a competitive race..rather it was a test of our endurance and willpower..of coz company along the way helped too..
