i made a choice today...
i took into account my interests and prospects...
although i was a little tempted...
but i made tt decision...
i just hope that i will not regret it...
or rather
i should not regret it coz it's a choice tt i made...
my own personal motto is not to regret the choices that i made
i've not regretted gg into JC even tho i planned to go poly
i din regret gg into ntu
so i shall not regret my choice of career too...
i rmbr seeing this sentence in maureen's blog a while back
sometimes it's bad to have so many interests
so many that you dunno wad u wan to do...
it took a while...
at some points i felt so demoralised..
kept asking myself why did i screw up?
so i kept consoling myself i'll learn n do better next time
but somehow i nv seem to learn
or was it coz the jobs were not suitable?
den i couldn't believe it when luck came my way...
till now everything feels surreal
everything feels so uncertain
as tho things could change anytime
i feel so ill-equipped...
got to learn frm scratch...
hated accounting in sch..
guess i got to start liking it...
hahaha
muz thank someone who encouraged me not to give up, to look for sth that i really like...
thank you..
altho i'm nt too sure if i'll end up liking the job but at least i noe i have a strong interest in it..
hope i'll be capable enuff to rise up to the demands...

i'm a person who guards my personal space fiercely
and values my privacy intensely
which is why i dun tell many pple abt my blog
even so i also don't really put much of my inner thoughts on my blog
my blog is just a means of sharing with my friends on the going-ons in my life
so when someone calls me 3 times a day to ask where am i gg or where was i when i already told you last night where i was going....
i take it very personally...
it may be just a show of concern on your part
i may try to convince myself that it was a show of concern
but deep down my heart is protesting
my heart and my mind takes it as an invasion of privacy
when i am ready to share with you
i will open up to you naturally even without you having to ask me
yes...i am someone who takes very long to warm up and open up to people

Conversation with my student

Me: Elton, you performing in this year's NDP right? u got the tickets to the real day?
E: Ya. I got 6 tickets.
Me: Why not you give me 2 tickets, Auntie Florence 2 tickets and keep 2 for yourself?
E: No la. Don't go watch this year's NDP.. Not nice one.
Me: Why leh? I thought every year also like that?
E: You know why? Coz last few years don't have me performing.. This year I'm performing that's why not nice..
Me: -_-"

hahaha
damn cute la.. that's why just now I was trying to imagine him in that feathery feathery costume.. super amusing... hahaha

was watching the opening of the olympics last nite
Oh my!
It was such an awesome show!No expenses were spared and everything was done in the hugest proportions! And the pyrotechnics display was spectacular! I like the 29 footprints that were shown using fireworks leading to Bird's Nest.

I think this shows the spirit of the Chinese. To do it well or not do it at all. This is probably an understatement. Perhaps this is also the chinese's way of proving all its naysayers wrong. Watching the opening ceremony last night, how many people still had the tibetan human rights issue at the fore of their minds? How many people remembered the arrest of politcal dissenters? Everyone was just simply mersmerised by the show and for that one night at least, many forgot their differences and immersed themselves in the lavish and spectcular show.

Whether we like it or not, we have to face the fact China has the greatest chance of changing the western world's views about Asia that no other Asian country has been able to. No other Asian country has been able to induce a frenzy to learn their language and culture except for China. The rise of China could also prove that alternative political systems other than the western form of democracy could work. Yes, from our history textbooks we see examples of communism failing. But what if it's communism with a socialist edge? Providing opportunites for growth while at the same time maintaining social order. Of course much can be said about the human rights records of the country, but the fundamental logic is fuelling growth within a stable social and political framework. But if a system provides equal opportunities for all and social mobility is high as can be seen from the number of newly rich in China, who is to say that the system is not working?

Take the case of Singapore, we have been criticised for the lack of freedom in speech, lack of freedom of press, some even view our national daily as a propaganda tool by the government. But ask us, the citizens, how many of us feel truly oppressed? How many of us find that the news that we are reading everyday does not give us an accurate potrayal of events occurring around the world? No matter what system a country adopts, it should be for the well-being of its people. To be very practical, all this talk about idealism is nothing if the basic bread and butter issues of citizens are not met.

But, does the rise of China put an end to the dominance of Western culture. I hardly think so. Is the Big Mac Index going to be replaced by the La Mien Index(my own cheeky example)?Just as the people in the other parts of the world are scrambling to learn Mandarin to do business in China, the Chinese are also learning the English language to be connected with the Western world. Many thanks also goes to the superiority of branding and marketing of the free enterprise economy. Is MacDonald's going to be replaced by a Chinese fast food brand? At this point in time, I don't think so. What the rise of China signifies is probably the shift of some of the West's power to Asia; the levelling of power.

wow that was a lot of rhetoric from me..like a GP essay..haha

anyway

HAPPY NATIONAL DAY!!!!
