Convocation Ball @ the Fullerton Hotel - 26 July 2008

theme of the night......

SHOWHAND! the momento for the convo ball..looks like those tokens tt they use to showhand in casinos..cool rite!

the food was super good ok!1st time i go prom n eat the food one leh...last time go JC n sec sch one only eat 2 bites den the food all untouch liao...

we did our hair at maison hair remake at far east plaza..qt good...but ermz a bit slow..i guess this is called man gong chu xi huo..haha

me n bel! from 1st 3 months frens to biz law mates! great to have lessons wif u again! haha

AB214 mates - me n jon n sherie din manage to take pix wif u all during convocation..haha

limin n me - limin bcum more n more chio by the day from JC until uni..haha

table 2 - we've got the best dressed gentleman n lady in our table...guess who? haha

gwen n bel n me - 1st 3 mths mate!! pity i only saw kim lin towards the end of the evening..otherwise we could haf taken together..haha

me n cherish - met on the korea trip n to our surprise we were both gg to nbs..haha

n guess wad! i won a prize in the lucky draw for tt night!

i won myself a $180 facial voucher! forgot to buy 4D the next day..darn! haha first time i win lucky draw leh! haha

the top prize was a nintendo wii...haix i also wan!!

with the convocation ball comes a closure on my student life..no matter how i miss it i guess i'll still have to move on to the next chapter in my life...i guess i've been slacking long enuff...ok chan li shan! time to get serious abt life n find out wad u wan to do n go for it! knock knock..u got to start paying ur tuition loan sooon~~

last week was a busy week....
there was convocation and convocation ball....

convocation - 22 July 2008

we have finally graduated!! class of 2008..

we got a free teddy bear complimentary of ntu-nbs alumni..yay! i named it "myBear"

while waiting for bern to finish her ceremony...we were super duper tired n our legs were dying after wearing our heels frm morning till night.. n oh..this is the newly renovated can B...

after bern's ceremony in sbs.. the reception was terrible by the way...lunch or dinner.. muz thank jin chao n yifen for being our photographer n following us ard sch even tho he juz recovered n was there to attend bern's ceremony n yifen was there to attend her bro's convo...hehe

me n shermaine! my biz law kaki..i'll miss u loads ger!

level 1 of S4, the only lvl 1 tt u can jump off n die.. i definitely won't miss this place coz coming here means having to climb the long flight of steps...booo...

S4 - 3 yrs of lectures n tutorials n seminars...haix..i'll miss this place altho the rooms r super duper cold...

let me introduce you to a little known place in m'sia called Pengarang (四弯岛)

i dunno why it's called 四弯岛 coz it has up to 六弯s..

i was a frequent visitor here when i was young

but ever since i moved to woodlands i haven't been there

that's like 10+ yrs..

so when we went back the other day

it poured...as in rained ctas n dogs...

even the unbrealla wasn't of much help..

my mum said the island was welcoming us back after so long..

haha

this place is best known for its fresh seafood(my favourite!)

we had claypot wild boar, oatmeal prawns, stir fry ostrich meat with spring onions, and baby kailan with all the misc stuff like drinks, rice, tissue,nuts etc..

it cost us RM59 which according to a friend is expensive but ok wad..S$23 for so many things..

this place has become more mordernised..

but this island has become more empty over the years as the younger generation moved to the mainland/singapore to work..

this is the 土产shop..they have very interesting stuff tt u dun find in the rest of m'sia their 老婆饼humongous and is different from the rest of the 老婆饼 outside..they have very nice 软糕，they also haf a specialty called 枕头饼which is my favourite。。。i like their almond cookies too..

the 枕头饼..the pastry outside is very light and flaky..it sorts of juz falls apart when u touch it..n it melts in ur mouth..i'm not too sure wad the filling is made of..but i think it's winter melon filling...i dunno la..but it's really nice and chewy and it's not too sweet..i dun think u can find this anywhere else...

the 软糕 and almond cookies..the 软糕 looks different from the ones tt we usu see..it's very nice and soft...tt's y it's called 软糕 rite? haha it's definitely softer than those found in sg...it also has a slight 椰香味 which is not too heavy on the tastebuds...

the almond cookie is nice..it's buttery enuff for my taste and has the nice fragrance of almonds..but the weird thing each pack comes with half a peanut..i dunno why..

the 咸豆沙饼。。。i haven't eaten it yet..but according to my mum it's v nice..n my mum has better idea of wad is nice n not nice than i haf...tt's why the tau sar piah tt i bought frm sbw is still uneaten..haha

act we also bought the sweet tau sar piah..it's v interesting it looks like teochew mooncake..u noe wif the flaky pastry n lotus paste filling...but coz it's unopened so i can't take a pix of it..it's nice coz the lotus paste is not too sweet n the pastry is light n melts in ur mouth... this is wad i call 老字号and 土产man...so much more worth buying than all the mass produced and commercialised products that do not taste half as nice as they claim but people still buy coz it's a product of m'sia..haha unfortunately, we only bought a bit so ya..we r unable to share wif u all..hehe next time i'll rmbr k?

the jetty to go home...this jetty used to be v old n the bumboats used to be parked side by side tt u had to jump frm bumboat to bumboat in order to get onshore..tt shows how bustling it used to be..hard to imagine hor..coz the younger generation dun wan to drive the boat anymore, or the boats have spoilt n also there's competition from the new ferry terminal where pple can take a air conditioned ferry to sg in comfort but it's so much more expensive! the boats from this jetty goes to changi jetty..can avoid the jam at woodlands checkpoint on a sunday evening...but changi is so far away from my hse..i might as well have taken the bus back to jb n be home quicker..

how to get to to Pengarang:

1. drive (i dunno how)

2.take bus 170/950 to larkin terminal den take a coach (RM 8) to pengarang (journey is abt 1hr + i guess..coz pengarang is still part of johor..so it's not too far away..)

3. take a bus to larkin terminal den take bus 66 (RM3.80) to kota tinggi den take take a cab to pengarang (RM10/person) (note: this route is only if the coach is fully booked like the other day when i went coz the coach is definitely moe comfy n cheap) the journey will take longer coz bus 66 has stops along the way like our normal buses..

4. take a bumboat from changi jetty (this is for those who want to reminisce abt the good old times n like feeling the sea breeze on ur face n like the excitement of riding the waves) takes abt 1hr..but when u reach the jetty in pengarang still must take cab to the town area..

5. take a ferry from tanah merah ferry terminal (for all the modern day comforts that technology brings..haha) i have no idea where the jetty for this is...haha

monday was COOKIE making day!!!

i like to eat chewy cookies, so does lamu...so i found a recipe online for chewy cookies...hmmm it's not too bad for a first time making these...
