CNY resolutions
My New Year's Resolutions were:
1. Exercise more
2. Eat more healthily
3. Sleep earlier
4. pass CPA exams
5.Save more
I decided that the Chinese New Year would be a great time to do a review of my New Year's resolutions to see how I had fared starting on my New Year's resolutions and maybe to give it a little tweak..
Review of my resolutions:
1. Exercise more --> definitely did and am definitely feeling so much better and refreshed nowadays..must really thank AJ for those crazy PE sessions that made me know that I am capable of so much more in terms of fitness..and thank the gym buddy MH...woots!
2. Eat more healthily --> erms....Chinese New Year just passed...so....
3. Sleep earlier --> Hmm..difficult...If I don't feel like a walking zombie on most days itmust mean I am sleeping more right?
4. pass CPA exams --> pray pray...so angry with myself for failing 1 module already...wasted time, wasted money..next weekend (sunday la...saturday going JB..whoops!) must start studying for the other papers already..NO MORE complacency,NO more slacking!
5.Save more --> no thanks to my brother, this resolution is still in a flux
So, my Chinese New year's resolutions are:
1. Continue to exercise more
2. Eat more healthily --> snack less (li shan, you are not getting young mans..stop all the snacking!)
3. Sleep earlier
4. pass CPA exams
5.Save more
6. Stop procrastinating!
I am such a major procrastinator...can you imagine, I haven't even make an application to IPTO for the trustee thingy so that I can transfer the ownership of my mum's shares in Singtel...since like 3+ years ago...major procrastination at work here!
Jiayou Jiayou!

growing old(er)
"omg! i still think of us as the girls in uniform! this is too scary!" - quote from sheena to crapz at yifen's wedding
i agree!
i still remember all those night study sessions in school while preparing for o levels, where some sessions became crapping sessions...
i still have the vivid image of us girls in a pinafore sitting at the concourse eating our hotdog popiah in my mind...
how can it be that 10 years have passed since we last wore our pinafore?
In the blink of an eye, some are married, some are getting married, some are pregnant, some have already given birth...
meanwhile, some are still waiting for the One, some are not looking...
whoah....
the transformation is scary...
we are no longer the dreamy young girls we once were, bright eyed, thinking the world is a wonderful place filled with motherly/sisterly figures like our teachers, thinking that our prince charming will find us in their shining armour (courtesy of julie garwood, judith macnaughts, sandra brown books), thinking that we can conquer the world!
somewhere along the way, we learnt to accept the practicalities of the world and moved on...

pursue your dreams?
last year, i went around telling everyone...
"don't jio me on any trips this year...i need to save money!"
barely half the year passed...nearly dying from burnout...feeling my productivity fall to the pits...
i decided that i needed a trip..and thanks to the executor, hz, the trip to indonesia...
and barely one month after i returned, i received a call from my auntie
"shan, i'm looking at the jetstar site now..the prices are quite reasonable for a long weekend you know? you want to go?"
"ok lor"
and yays! i'm going for a short getaway over the national day weekend!
so the plan is to go to the library to borrow a lonely planet for vietnam tmr...
been looking at the fb status updates..
see some old friends/schoolmates pursuing what they like to do which may not be mainstream
i admire them from the depths of my heart...
i admit that i'm very unwilling to take a big step into an unknown area..
financial security is my foremost consideration before i take any steps...
i heard their interview on 933...
it was only when i saw the fb updates that i realise my PW mate was the lead singer in this band!
go nicole!
and i really think that it's quite cool to have a violinist in a rock band
and what was most amazing was that they had full time jobs when they published the first album and went on publicity rounds...
i don't have big dreams
no dreams of unlimited riches, climbing the corporate ladder, the perfect bf/husband, etc
i only dare to take small steps in life hoping to reach somewhere eventually
or maybe i'm just waiting for them to come and find me..haha
all i can do now is to prepare myself for any opportunities that may come my way...
opportunities are for those who are prepared right?

being on leave is such an exhilarating feeling
wanted to blog earlier but there are always tons of reasons not to
too lazy, too tired, don't want to stare at the computer screen after getting home from work, antivirus expired..etc
as the title of this post says,
being on leave is such an exhilarating feeling!
for the past few years that i've been working, i've never thought about work while on leave
this time was no exception
I'm back from my trip to jogya-bromo-bali!
I'm not going to post any photos here (go see my fb albums yourself ya..haha)
afterall if you do read my blog, you must be my friend on fb
this trip was the first time that we did not make any bookings for accomodation prior to the trip (except for the bali villa bought through groupon)
exciting!!
after this trip, i'm convinced that the time of the people in indonesia is elastic...
we were supposed to reach cemaro lawang from jogya by 5.30pm, but we reached at 11pm? (we started our journey att 8+ am or 9am btw..)
from cemaro lawang to denpasar, bali, we were supposed to reach by 7.30pm..but we reached at 11.00pm..we started our journey at 10am (or 11am denpasar time)
how can their estimation be so off...zzz so in actual fact, we spent 1 whole day travelling on the roads...
overall i feel that indonesia has a lot to offer in terms of tourism
if they could try to improve their infrastructure a little, specifically build more highways..it would be great!
the rides to cemaro lawang and bali were all via "small roads" and not via the expressways that we are used to.
However, if you are fan of road trips, whereby you pass by local villages and get to see the local sights and scenes, you would enjoy cross country travelling in indonesia.
overall, this was a very enjoyable trip! the people were warm and friendly (we didn't see/remember anyone giving us a black face even if we didn't buy from them)
this places that we visited had had its fair share of touts (becak! becak! kraton kraton!) and conmen (the kraton is closed for friday prayers go see n.o.u.v.i very nice art exhibition..utter bullshit)
but we were warned by our handy guidebook, the lonely planet, beforehand!
travelling to and in indonesia is really quite cheap! except for bali..bali is expensive when compared to the rest of indonesia..but is still relatively cheaper when compared with Singapore...going from jogya to bali, our jaws really dropped when we saw the prices of everything in bali...
and i'm quite pleased with how the pictures of bromo turned out..cos i couldn't really tell what i was shooting and i'm quite a lousy photographer and i was a bit rusty with the dslr...if i was better with the dslr, i'm sure my shots would have been more awesome..anyway for a noob like me, yays!
now i'm just going to enjoy the rest of my leave.... =)
